Draining Kiss is a special move but it makes contact. Razor Leaf is a physical move but it doesn't make contact.

That's just some retarded shit the anime does what they don't want to animate a physical bite, or want Bite to collide with another attack (like how Ash's Lycanroc used it to bite through Gladion's Lycanroc's Stone Edge).

They used to always animate it as a physical bite, the energy fang shit didn't start until Gen 7.

If you look at anything other than speedruns you'd know that there's a big list of Pokemon that are viable. Swampert/Latios/Metagross are used because assuming you don't use your Master Ball all three are obtainable in Emerald, can be SR for/are basically gifted and run the easiest strat in the Battle Tower which is just full offense.
I beat the Battle Frontier and I had roughly 18 Pokemon I swapped in between for different places, with some being way better than others in certain areas.

P/S split buffed other stuff that Sneasel and since Sneasel is not that great of a Pokemon, it lead to overall power increase in UU that it couldn't keep up with. There's a reason it got an evolution and that one was doing great, just because it had better stats.

the lack of the split is only somewhat a "problem" in Gen 3 due to the changed EV mechanics and the inclusion of natures, which both made dedicated physical/special attackers more optimal than mixed attackers
That and there just being plenty of pokemon whose typings didn't mesh with their stats, like sharpedo being a physical attacker but both of its STABs being useless.
