I already own Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, which I bought for $40 leafbucks (or maybe it was $35, it's hard to remember 15 years ago) each back at their launches. Why would I pay $80 leafbucks for a barebones remake that butchers the art style? They could have turned DPPt into one perfect definitive edition of Sinnoh, kept the overhead view, used higher resolution sprites, and kept the toon filter on the overworld so that the sprites fit in. If they're not going to do high resolution sprites for Trainers and Pokémon in battle, then use Master's Trainer models and use the toon shader on the HD Pokémon models (it's also completely fine if it's only the first 493). Maybe add Sylveon, the existing Mega Evolutions, Cosplay Pikachu, and the pre-existing regional forms. Get Sugimori to do new art instead of those ugly 3D renders, with touched up designs akin to Johto Gym Leaders like Falkner, Bugsy, and Whitney and not like Pryce, Shelley, and Winona. But give Lucas and Dawn the option to switch into their DP or Platinum outfits too.
BDSP just feel really lazy, where faithful is used as an excuse to not do any more than the bare minimum rather than a reason to make the definitive Sinnoh experience true to the originals.
