There are people in the Pokemon world who have Pokemon who are their brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, and soulmates. A bond that's more romantic isn't that far off. A pokemon that's a girlfriend or boyfriend was hinted at a few times with a young lady who had a machamp that she was taking out on a date, there were a couple of lasses who were hitting on the Machop line, and I recall two golfing ladies hitting on a guy in a Machamp suit. There was also this time in an in universe movie where a guy is mistaken to have a Pokemon Girlfriend and the guy who sees this is just like
>"Your devotion for your Pokemon is so great that you could even see them as your girlfriend? ....I respect that." So at some level there are people who are attracted to Pokemon and its just generally accepted and ignored.
I'd like to point out though, in that instance with the guy who was in a Machamp suit, the main character didn't know at the time, and didn't seem to mind that it was happening, they only acted because it looked like the "Machamp" was uncomfortable. Which makes me feel like if it didn't look uncomfortable or very clearly was happy I don't think they would have intervened at all.
