>>46990601>Gen I >Gen II Karen and LanceThese were simply the result of there not being enough of that type to make a complete team so they had to go the next best thing. Not much point in criticizing those because there isn't much that can be done without just giving Agatha five Gengars
>Koga's Gen II ForretressThere were definitely enough poison types around by now that they could've done a full team, but Forretress definitely wasn't the worst options they could've gone with. Forretress resists Psychic, neutral to Ground, and has a great defensive typing which makes it similar to Poison being a pretty good defensive typing.
>Bruno's Gen II Onix I get that Bruno having an Onix is kind of just his thing but it really should've been a Steelix or another Fighting type. It helps with the Flying weakness I guess but Onix is just so dogshit that it doesn't make a big enough difference in the long run, any Psychic type can just sweep Bruno
>StevenSteven's the Fossil / Ancient Pokemon guy so they all fit thematically, but Cradily and Armaldo don't really synergize to do anything that special. They still get beat by Fighting moves because they're Rock and they can get hit by Fire because of their secondary typings. They help offset just EQing your way through him but Claydol and Skarmory also do that and Cradily just isn't fast enough to pull off tons of Giga Drains.
Claydol is pretty cool though. Can screw over fighting types, immune to ground, and sets up screens to help the team out.
I'm running out of words for the word count so I won't go full autist on the rest but essentially
