I found the Feebas tile, fished up a ton of them, transferred them to gen 4, put them on the GTS and got whatever I wanted. Good times.

no, that's a waste of time. You can fish each tile once with an old rod. old rod is the fastest and its a 50/50 split between feebas and tentacool.

You can check each tile once extremely quickly. since there's 6 spots you have 6 50/50 chances of encountering feebas. it's unlikely that you would miss him. However I checked each tile twice in the hope that my feebas tiles was among the first hundred. It's up to you, but don't search more than twice as it's a waste of time. more tile coverage=faster hunt. always use old rod as the other rods take too long

that takes way too long. if the first 50 tiles don't have feebas you just wasted like 6 hours. in 6 hours you can check every tile twice which assuredly gets you feebas

It was boring and frustrating. Feebas could only be encountered on one tile and it seemed to be able to relocate if it wanted. His encounter rate was also low as shit, so you couldn't even tell you were on the tile.

Hoenn was fucking based when it came to rare, non-swarming wild pokemon. Jigglypuff, bagon, feebas, chimecho, snorunt, absol, relicanth, horsea...
Hoenn isn't without its flaws, but the way it handled rare encounters was great. You really had to dig deep to find some pokemon.

I just completed my dex in sapphire. I completely forgot about jigglypuffs and horseas locations. blew my mind. Nosepass was unique too. Rock smash in granite cave with like an 8% chance of encountering a pokemon and only 30% chance of it being nosepass

pinsir was fun too. 5% encounter rate in the safari zone and it was highly likely to run.
