>>47005122>First: There's no "right" way to like something fictional.I never said there was, I just said that's what other people were saying. That being said, I do think this logic isn't entirely reasonable since there are some lines that shouldn't be crossed with fictional things. I don't really think any of those are related to Gardevoir itself, though.
>Second: You can do some really good stuff with GardevoirThe first example has the opponent being an a moron by playing terribly (he could've very easily killed the Gardevoir had he just not been a idiot and sacked the Swampert to bring Gren in, at which point he would've won). It's even pointed out in the video he lost because he choked. The Team's description in the video even literally says "Team is meant for fun not to win" and it's title is "DO NOT USE THIS TEAM". Weedle isn't hiding it's a meme.
The second example I'd argue is a better one, because the Gardevoir was used to win still and the opponent wasn't as much of an idiot, but you do need to keep in mind that video is of an RU battle, not an OU one. This video isn't entirely accurate to the competitive situation Gardevoir is in due to the drastic difference between the two tiers; trying to take a video of Gardevoir winning an RU match and claiming it would perform fine in OU is a little dishonest. Gardevoir's stats just don't let it do anything effectively these days and Tapu Lele outclasses it entirely with a much better ability and much better stats, especially in Gen 7 (which is where this battle is). Trace can be an interesting meme, sure, but it's not usually doing much; sometimes it can help you out but it can also be a double-edged sword and help the enemy too.
Gardevoir can occasionally pull off a meme victory but unfortunately the sad reality is that it's stats just aged horribly and it's outclassed by a lot of Pokemon at what it does. Lele was just the final nail in the coffin.
