When clearing gyms who did you use? Do you remember? Did you use who you had or did you have to win with a specific pokemon in mind?

Really? I was under the impression that Hatterene's were rather weak to most of the gyms due to their lack of speed, maybe I should pick one up before I do the challenger cup

Sure, I'll go through Sword and what I've played lately
>Sword: rotated between two teams, first team is Inteleon, Centiskorch, Flapple, Polteageist, Hatterene, and Sirfetch'd
>Sword second team: Roserade, Ninetales, Barraskewda, Excadrill, Heliolisk, Grimmsnarl
>rotate after each Gym, be completely underleveled against Raihan and win anyway because of strategy
>Black 2: Azumarill, Darmanitan, Whimsicott, Haxorus, Magnezone, Mandibuzz
>Blaze Black 2: Excadrill, Staraptor, Rotom-W, Gallade, Volcarona, Politoed
>Renegade Platinum: Infernape, Blissey, Gliscor, Scizor, Gengar, Pelipper
Generally speaking I use whoever has the best type advantage for the Gyms, but I also try to have some win condition in mind, which is either outlasting the opponents, or find an opportunity with a set up move for a clean sweep

I think I caught a Heliolisk for the second team (which would have had to face Raihan later) just because I thought it was cool and I needed an Electric type, but it had interesting weather capabilities and it turns out that was actually key to helping me stand up to Raihan

I solo'd nearly the entire game with her man, she's fucking awesome.
Lack of speed means jack when you can tank every hit and heal off all the damage with draining kiss.
The only time I ever needed to switch her out was for a couple of steel types; even against the primary steel type specialist she was able to outspeed and OHKO a lot of shit.
I traded her to a friend to have them give her Mystical Fire at the 5th Gym point. Hey, I had fun and I tore the game to shreds with my bromon, that's all I care about. Even without the fire attack she's an absolute beast and you can just give her Shadow Ball until you get it.

Alright then, I'm sold, natures don't matter, IVs don't matter, abilities don't matter, I can just catch and enjoy because once I get to the isle and the tundra and I can get all I need to turn her into a powerhouse anyway.

It sure is difficult to find double types in this game for some reason, alot of the new pokemon are single types

I've been playing Polished Crystal and focusing extra hard on my Geodude/Graveler/Golem because I wanted to see just how strong Geodude was in GSC. It handily takes care of most gyms, and that's even with the difficulty buffs Polished Crystal does by giving every Gym Leader past Bugsy/Whitney a full team.

I do need to switch occasionally and supply an item for it to not get fucked over partway through its massive sweeps, but I suspect that's largely due to the team updates and also RNG / move accuracy. I've beaten 6 Gym Leaders now and I've never damaged one of them with a monster other than Golem.
