This also fails to take into account that some of Gen 8's mons were designed with G-Max in mind, which kinda makes their forms feel incomplete without it. Are the regionals of older Pokemon suppose to supplant the originals in your post op analysis?
Morpeku wouldn't have been able to carry the series with less than 100 mons for that matter, either. I also dunno why GF would have a monster collecting series starting off in the U.K. of all places rather than their home region, and this decision alone would've greatly changed the nature of the franchise.
In short, this British inspired monster collector series from the 90s would've faded into a niche side series while Digimon dominated in its place. Especially if they alienate early adopters with the Chairman Rose plot, which now somehow makes even less sense than it already did.
