Ghost and Dark should’ve been swapped. All Dark attacks made contact against the opponent and benefits mons like Tyranitar and Absol.
Dragon could’ve been experimental split before Gen 4 Phy/Spe split. Or just out right physical, since the majority of Steel-types have high defense and Dragonbreath was the only viable non-contact Dragon-type attack, which was outclassed by Hidden Power and Dragon Claw.
Poison is questionable. I’d say leave it physical.

Physical/Special being limited by type was retarded from the start, since it robbed so many pokemon of effective STAB moves based on their stat spreads. Still annoyed that my Crawdaunt I used on my Ruby playthrough last month basically got robbed of being able to effectively use Crunch.

It's still retarded. It made zero sense that biting something with your teeth (Bite/Crunch) wasn't a physical attack, yet throwing a ball of dark energy (Shadow Ball) was. Or that Crabhammer, a Pokemon hitting another Pokemon with its pincers, wasn't a physical attack.

Yes you do. A Pokemon's type is its elemental affinity. If it can't use moves of that type, it being that type is pointless.

If you asked someone who's never played a Pokemon game before if Bite is a physical attack, they'd say yes.

Biting is a physical action, therefore Bite is a physical attack. Conjuring up a ball of dark energy is magic, therefore Shadow Ball is special.

The majority of physical moves are also contact moves. The only ones that aren't shit like Earthquake and Sacred Fire which doesn't really make sense as physical, but was made that way because Ho-Oh's physical attack is higher. If the move was made today, it'd work like Photon Geyser and use whatever attack stat is higher.

The move itself did not change. It was simply changed to Dark because biting fits the theme of the Dark type (underhanded tactics). A bite is sitll a physical attack no matter what type it is.

Wring Out SHOULD be a physical move though. The only reason it's not is because the majority of Pokemon that learn it are special attackers, and because it already has a physical version in Crush Grip, which is exclusive to Regigigas.
