>>47025681I was specifically talking about USUM being "well-written." What you've described in the base Sun/Moon. SM Lusamine is a well-written, fairly realistic character, and is treated with the gravity her character type deserves.
>Husband was researching Ultra Space>He gets dragged into it and disappears>Tries to get him back, is implied to have been subjected to Nihilego venom at some point>Desire to reunite with husband warps into obsession with Ultra Space and the Ultra Beasts>Worships the ideas of "beauty" and "perfection">Becomes a psychopath that abuses and gaslights her children, even dressing her daughter like the target of her obsession, Nihilego>Everything she does, from the abuse to cryogenically freezing Pokemon to being totally OK with killing what's essentially a baby Pokemon, is because of this insanity and obsessionsThen you have USUM Lusamine, who:
>Is NOT subjected to Nihilego venom>Is NOT obsessed with Ultra Space>Still dresses her daughter like Nihilego despite the reason for that no longer existing>Nihilego still appears, but it's explicitly the first time she's seen it and it never comes up again>Does all of the same twisted shit she does in SM, except without the excuse of insanity, the only difference being the things she says>Everyone just lets it slide because she had "good intentions"USUM Lusamine has her dialogue toned down, but they didn't change anything she actually DOES, resulting in her doing all of the same shit for no reason other than because GameFreak wanted to put in as little effort as possible and recycle the same assets, story beats, and setpieces, until about 2/3 of the way into the game where they go "oh no, she's not crazy - she has GOOD INTENTIONS!" You simply can't half-ass a character like this, especially not in the way that they did. USUM was a fucking travesty as far as writing goes.
