gen 2 and gen 4 are my favorite gens because it actually felt like they had keeping shit from the gen that came before as a priority, and none of this “cut features to make it more unique” bullshit that’s become standard. If every Pokemon game had the same philosophy behind it, we’d have some pretty rad games by now

Gen III completely falls apart at Lilycove and never pick back up. Ruby and Sapphire have the least amount of post-game content of any game barring Gen I. That constitutes good distribution? Map design is inferior to the wild area, distribution is all around weaker than Galar's, and grinding is even slower so yes gen 3 is a slow game with horrible map design and pokemon distribution.

Gen IV completely shat all over Gen III in terms of post-game content. When I played Silver, my expectations were blown away after I realized that the game just kept going after what I thought was the end. My mindset for Pokémon wasn't "I want to experience the next story", it was "I want to keep finding more stuff to do". I wasn't doing battle facilities because I didn't have the patience to autistically grind for a viable team. I was more about finding new areas and new Pokémon even after I finished the main story. Ruby and Sapphire fizzle out pretty quickly post-game if you're the type of person who does stuff as soon as possible. When I say the game falls apart at Lilycove, I mean the rival gives up and you never see their final starter. I mean the route design falls apart, being replaced with numerous vast open surfing routes that constitute half the numbered routes in the game. I mean the Magma/Aqua plot is retarded, and at least Cyrus fully understood what he was doing. Hell, it was already retarded. Why do they both try to do the exact same things to accomplish completely opposite goals? They have less Pokémon together than every other team individually.

Ruby and Sapphire doesn't just lock off stuff until after the credits, it locks it off until after a real life year passes and then includes some of it on a game that's on another console entirely that needs an additional accessory other than the link cable to interact with. And then 3 months later it puts some more stuff in a remake.

There are no dungeons, the post-game Legendary hunt is literally one Pokémon that you already saw in the main game unless you buy the DLC, and even then it's not like you're exploring through unique areas to reach the encounter, you just do a raid battle and whatever.

There are more Pokémon in a single copy of Diamond or Pearl without any outside trading, glitches, events, or backwards compatibility than there are in base Sword and Shield combined. Not only does Sword and Shield not have any "caves with pointless encounters", it has next to nothing at all. Takes a lot of work to remove all those areas and just shove all their Pokémon into the Wild Area, that's why they charge you twice the cost of Diamond or Pearl. They have to get money back for all the time they spent removing content after all.
