Apparently, the people who actually design the Pokémon do not get to decide things like stats, moves, or abilities. They just have to hope and pray that whoever does doesn’t hate their mon.

Everything's compartmentalised to streamline the whole process and to keep everyone on-schedule. If lads who set the stats need to talk to every designer about every little detail of their creation as they see it, it slows down everyone downstream.

I'm pretty sure Aurorus would have been able to learn Power Gem since its debut generation (gen 6) if Hitoshi Ariga (the guy who designed said Pokémon) had a say regarding its movepool. In fact, it should be learned by leveling up.

I feel like this is something we've known for a while. It was certainly strongly suggested, at least, what with cases like Vikavolt's Dex entry stating it's super fast, while its base Speed is fucking 43, and its only Ability (Levitate) doesn't involve Speed, either.

Calyrex while garbage by itself has two very viable and ridiculous powerful forms. One is Slow Bulky Ice Type with very High atk and a ridiculous powerful and reliable stab, it was one of the best WP abusers because even though it had a shitty defensive type it was bulk enough to take a hit and snowball from there with AS ONE. The other form is a somewhat frail fast special attacker, It's retarded fast for how hard it hits and it packed a very powerful ghost stab with enough coverage to get around it's checks/counters and AS ONE helps it go out of control very fast if you don't have good speed control on your side. And that's VGC alone, and while Caly-ICE ain't as retarded on singles Caly-Ghost is 2 times ridiculous, it's the only mon other than Zacian who gets people going apeshit because of how stupidly strong it is.

Wrong retard. Maybe it's stats but Naganadel has access to Nasty Plot and Beast Boost. They fill completely different roles and if allowed to setup, Naganadel can wreck an entire team while Eternatus can't.

It's actually because Vikavolt's attacks take time to charge.

It was a running theme in Vikavolt's battles in the anime that its Signal Beam and Zap Cannon attacks took so long to charge that it needed to catch its opponent off guard, immobilize them with String Shot, or catch them in its piners to land a hit.

The dex implies the same thing:

>Sun: It zips around, on sharp lookout for an opening. It concentrates electrical energy within its large jaws and uses it to zap its enemies.

>Ultra Moon: Vikavolt flusters opponents with acrobatic flying maneuvers. This creates an opening for it to deliver an electric beam attack.

It wouldn't slow down anything to add a note like "fast and good attack but frail" so the balance team or whoever know what to make of it.

When Ash's Oshawott lost its shell, it literally couldn't fight with out it and they had to make it a replacement until they found the original. The whole line's fighting styles revolve around their shells. It's their primary weapon.

Correct and their primary weapon.

Nobody made the claim that they are. And even then, there are other Pokemon that use tools that obviously aren’t indestructible either. But those tools are still important to their design since it’s usually apart of how they battle.

This is something we've known for years though. Turner has been one of the most open Pokemon Devs over the years before GF intervened. It's thanks to him we also know designers are legally required not to look at fan designs.
We also know GF have a dedicated Pokemon namer rather than designers naming their own mon.

In a Gen 5 Nintendo Dream interview regarding designs, they confirmed that gameplay comes first and then the designs are built around that.

I.E. the game design team says there aren't enough Fighting types, so the artists create Mienshao. They ask for a Grass/Steel type, so Ferrothorn is created. Not enough Ghost types, so Ghost type is thrown onto Jellicent. Stunfisk is changed from Water/Electric to Ground/Electric to increase type variety, etc

No, it isn't. Game Freak and the anime studio work together to keep things consistent between them. Everything in the anime comes directly from Game Freak, because they're there to oversee it and make sure it matches their vision of how things work.

An anime can't follow the "rules" of a turn-based RPG, because its mechanics are abstractions that make no sense in a realistic environment.
