I kinda agree in terms of pure playability. Playing through gen 8 was a breeze. Meanwhile I had to restart SM like 2-3 times before actually finishing the game. I kept getting bored and stopping, and USUM and SWSH actually had the time to come out before I could work up the courage to give Alola another try.
They're still better games overall though, don't delude yourself.

Gen 7 was a breath of fresh air that the series desperately needed. The amount of new feautures, great characters and charm puts it far above the other 3D gens. You can dislike it, I can get why, it has shortcomings, no game doesn't. But NO WAY is Gen 7 worse than the abomination that was Gen 6.
