I genuinely can’t understand this view point. It’s slow, sure, but I’ve always felt it’s one of the best Pokémon games ever in many aspects like exploration and difficulty (still not that hard but it’s not impossible to lose and that’s saying a lot)

What exploration? The entire game is linear and the “”exploration”” is just backtracking to routes and finding useless items after clearing out HMs. Kanto had more rewarding exploration.

I just started the gen 4 anime and it made me want to start my platinum game over but I haven’t transferred any of the legendary Pokémon over. It’s the comfiest region with tons of content. The one gripe I get with this gen is how “slow” it is

Its objectively the most bland and uninteresting region and games. The music is very bland elevator muzak. The routes are boring and samey. Most of the pokemon designs are boring or bland and have similar dark washed out colors with lots of navy blues and lifeless purples. Most if not All of the gym leaders are forgettable and use the same washed out dark colors. Platinum fixed most of the issues from a gameplay and somewhat of a content perspective but the game was still a sleepy retread of older games and the drifting somnambulance of a franchise on autopilot. Theres a Reason they rebooted the franchise after these games.

I say this as someone who has a certain degree of nostalgia for platinum as it was the game that got me back into pokemon as an adult in college.

Well it was sort of a soft reboot. Non japanese region with only new pokemon available before post game. At the very least it was waaay different than the first four gens.
