in gen 6 it was better to have females of every species since they can take any compatible father and pass down their ball, ability, and movepool so they were strictly better for us autistic people who didn't/wouldn't inject

then gen 7 changed breeding mechanics again so the point is now moot

perfect stats and IVs and movesets are all so easily obtainable in this generation it's worth it to go the extra mile and get the gender right on certain feminine pokemon.

The only time a pokemon's gender matters to me is if I have a nickname in mind that is gender specific. Getting a female Eevee to name Demeter and evolve into Leafeon was..... tedious.
I wanted a shiny male Obstagoon so I could name him filthy Frank. Ended up getting 5 shiny Zigzagoon, the first 3 being female, and the 5th hatching from literally the exact next egg after the 4th hatched

The game tells you the gender of every Pokemon when your camera is on it. The only Gardevoir in the game literally is labeled "Gardevoir (Male)".
