It's at best inconsequential, and at worst it inconveniences you by holding content back behind a completly arbitrary neetwall.
It adds basically nothing besides cool night theme songs and atmosphere, but that could just as easily be achieved on an in-game timer that you can change without fucking with your system settings, and have literally none of the drawbacks.
