>>47056336The slice of life elements are genuinely enjoyable and team Rocket were at their best in Sun and Moon, however the battles tend to be very hit or miss where the ones that were great shine through spectacularly but the bad ones like Ash vs Hapu stick out like a sore thumb that rivals and surpasses the worst battles in best wishes to the point where with ash vs Hapu, they resorted to pulling a season 1 sprinkler ex machina just to give Pikachu a chance to beat Golurk who normally outright hard countered the rat and it’s worse than season 1 with brocks gym because Ash had other Pokémon to work with like Rowlet which is far better than Pikachu against Golurk and unfortunately the ass pulls do happen quite often in the shittier battles.
As for the main cast , it’s also a hit or miss which characters like Kukui and Team Rocket being god tier while characters like Mallow, Lana and Sophocles being rather pointless most of the time plus the major Arcs especially the earlier ones tend to feel rather rushed and lacked proper build up and unfortunately the anime did not do team Skull Justice whatsoever as Guzma and Plumaria appeared way too late.
