When Pokemon dies and Pikachu gets its own superior franchise, should its supporting cast be human, pokemon or new and original creatures?

Pikachu alone already sells more than all the other pokemon and characters put together. 25 years held back by a half dead franchise it's been carrying alone, imagine how much bigger it'd be if all the trash got thrown out of the way.
