Why do hardcore Pokemon fans pretend the spinoffs are any good? They treat them like as if theyre masterpiece or something just because they dont like the newer mainline games.

Imagine if hardcore Mariofags suddenly started decrying Mario Odyssey and called Mario Tennis Aces a masterpiece. Its fucking embarassing and defeatist.

Especially because at least Mario spinoffs are kinda decent entries in their genre. Mario Kart is a decent racing game, Mario Tennis is a good sports game, etc. Pokemon spinoffs are consistently bad or bland compared to other stuff in their genre

First off, because mainline mario games aren't complete shit, if SWSH had even half the effort put into it as Odyssey it would be the best mainline Pokemon game to ever exist.

And also, there literally are more people who prefer Mario Kart to mainline mario games lmao

Because spinoffs try telling a more interesting story, and have different gameplay, many are tired of the same mainline formula (8 gyms, "evil" team, forced legendaries plot, becoming the champion)
