by far has the wierdest fans of the three lol

anyhow Samurott was my pick simply bc it evolved form Oshawott who I liked, but over time Serp def became my fav final evo starter grom unova. Much better executed design than the other two even if it’s simple

the trio as a whole switches "leg count" which I like, because their designs are all diverse and there is no clear better one from design alone

Of course decline began in Gen 5.
It was the peak of the Franchise.
Anything that came after it was always destined to tuns out as pure and utter shit.
USUM was the closest to saving the decline but failed

The Oshawott line are based on the lifespan of samurais(which may explain Samurott suddenly being cavalry-like) so the progression would be more thematic than obvious.

At the very least, it did result holding up(being a starter choice for ancient japan region)

Really, the one mistake they made was not saving Snivy for gen 6, and not having Turtwig as the grass starter to reference America's Native American name aka Turtle Island. Believe it or not, the world tortoise angle actually does fit first nation culture pretty perfectly.

Gen 5 certainly had the worst starter designs, Serperior’s design has grown on me though.
Emboar is by far the most wasted shiny in the franchise, the colours look incredible but the design is awful.
It’s a shame Oshawott went from being an otter to a digimonesque sea lion because it had the most potential of the three starters.
