The power level and average HP level of decks increasing makes the cards influence on the standard metagame artificial when very obviously some cards are gonna be complete dogshit (the pick and choose any worthless EXs/GXs you want) and some cards are gonna obviously dominate the game if you know literally anything about it (Dedenne, Tapu Lele, Computer search, ADP, Darkrai Greninja, etc) .
If you want the competitive scene deciding the "true actual value of cards", well, the pokemon company have been constantly artificially pumping that up with bullshit numbers growing and growing and growing nonstop, I wonder who that's for. I don't think the casuals, that have never played with their cards a day in their lives give a shit about that and it's probably more healthy for the game that they don't.
