Thoughts on this thing? I recently got one as a gift and now my Switch is shiny hunting FOR ME in the other room. It's perfectly legal (unlike injecting) but now I don't need to sit in front of my console hatching 50 boxes of eggs myself. Shit son once I'm done it'll even release all the duds for me.

I'm 30. You're damn right I don't have countless hours to sit here hatching eggs because I work full time and have a social life. Shit dude I can even leave this shit running while I sleep, it's fucking great. Saying "WOW KIDS DON'T HAVE TIME ANYMORE AND WILL PLAY FORTNITE INSTEAD" isn't a reflection on the kids. It's a reflection on the fact that Pokemon games want you to do menial unfun bull shit for possibly days or even weeks on end just to get something as simple as another color palette. A lot of mechanics in Pokemon are aging like milk and it shows. You shouldn't be blaming kids for playing other games, you should blame Gamefreak for refusing to adapt and innovate because "smarr indy company prease undahstand" despite making games for the most profitable franchise in the god damn world.

Who said join, you can literally host your own and reroll a den OF YOUR CHOOSING, find it's shiny seed, then reroll 3 days once it's confirmed a shiny to reset the pokemon while it's still shiny until you get the Pokemon you want. You have full control over what you catch dude. Also the "odds" of getting into them aren't as hard as you think as there are dozens of steamers on Youtube and Twitch that host raids you can join easily with multiple Dens running at a time with sub 10 viewers. You're making it out as if simply joining a raid or hosting one is an impossible task when it really isn't. If they're not hosting a den you care for than just find someone else or make one yourself, there's hundreds of guides

the "optimal" scenario is chansey fleeing with a 10% chance while having a catch rate of around 7%
so yeah both scenarios are extremely comparable and much closer than "lol 0.002% is rarer than 0.1%"

There's even modes to do mass egg farming and then mass hatching if you'd prefer that route. Shit it can even watt farm if you wanna simp Honey with zero effort.

It does btfo your argument. It literally has four times the encounter rate you implied. Go catch a bunch of Chansey in zone 3 and see how long it takes, then go try and MM some shinies. Chansey is absolutely easier to get. You can get several before one shiny statistically no problem.

IT'S SAME FUCKING RESULT! You don't play the game and have Switch and cartridge for empty feeling of owning something and being a "gamer".
It's ok if you feel like that, but don't feel so great about using some chinese dongle instead of usual software methods. At the end of the day you're skipping gameplay and just get the results.

In case you're not baiting, I'll explain it for you.
The Switch Up game enhancer is a small microcomputer, probably some cheap Teensy clone, I haven't bothered tearing mine down yet. On this microcomputer, there's software that lets the microcomputer pretend to be a controller (similar software has been available for years, it's actually how Splatoon players get their art in game, a lot of the time) inside this software exists scripts that send input signals through the USB cable or over Bluetooth, to the console, where they're picked up in game and acted out on screen.

Ok so by this logic, powersaves aren't cheating because they don't interact with the game itself? Which means injection isn't cheating because modifying a save isn't modifying the game while it's running in memory.

The difference is one is hardware based and one isn't. It doesn't violate the ToS. They specifically market it for use with games such as Pokemon. If it violated the ToS it would have gotten taken down by now and yet they've been selling them for over a year at this point even through major retailers.

Switch Up isn't suddenly cleared of this, because it uses third-party software to automate operation within the service. You're simply changing the method of attack from data modification to signal interception.
Nobody cares how you play your dogfighting simulator, anon, but at least be consistent with your arguments.

Bonus trivia, Nintendo sued the people behind Game Genie, but not Action Replay, despite their stance on third party game modifications not changing.

PowerSaves (save editing just like injecting) also had a Pokemon marketing.

It says right there in the ToS that you're not allowed to use third party software to automate the game. Which is what Switch Up does.

Or I can do what I'm doing right now. I am manually hatching Swirlix in Ultra Moon while the dongle hatches Swirlix in Shield. I have been over odds for three generations.
