Also, people ignore what actually makes RS harder is overall lower power level of Pokemon you encounter, less usable freebies and much harder puzzles. In FRLG you get stuff like Snorlax, Lapras and one of the Eeveelutions absolutely for free, DP gives you a Lucario, Plat also adds Togepi and Eevee. In RS outside of your starter no Pokemon you encounter is particulary amazing, gen 3 is infamous for its SFMA single stage shitmon syndrome, and the few freebies you get (Castform, Wynaut) are nowhere near as good as fucking Snorlax or Lucario. Puzzles in RS are also the most elaborate they ever dared to make, it only really got worse from there.
tl;dr narrowing down the game’s difficulty to just the trainer levels is a brainlet-level approach
