Water 100%, pokemon like mantine, octillery, lanturn, quillfish (which was a very popular OU lead during the hgss era) feraligatr AND KINGDRA (introduced in gen 2) make a lot of sense and all are strong in their own right
Fire with typhlosion as an ace (best fire type between kanto and johto) just kidding, johto literally has no native fire types other than typhlosion, even houndoom is more kantonian than johto
GROUND, MAMOSWINE IS A JOHTO POKEMON, so is Donphan which is very strong too GLIGAR WAS INTRODUCED IN GEN 2 TOO, so gliscor is also part of this team. quagsire and Steelix (introduced in gen 2)
