The waves of fanart for old characters in previous remakes was always fueled by hype from new official art and new redesigns.
But no one in gen 4 is getting redesigned at all, and worse yet, they're not even doing any new 2D art because it's not even being developed in house.
In contrast, ORAS from day one of it's announcement gave us a steady stream of new redesigns and new 2D art of old characters leading up to release, but BDSP has given us literally nothing and will continue to give us nothing.
In their own words, BDSP will be "faithful" to the original, so don't expect anyhing other than the hideous chibi 3d model of Gardenia which exactly 0 people will be hyped for.
