I feel no desire to play these. Call me old fashioned if you must but the thing I've always valued most about pokemon games, ever since my first, red, on the game boy, was being able to catch em all. Now, before you get on my case, I know we were never actually able to catch em all. From the very beginning, even if you owned both versions and two game boys, your hard limit was 150 out of 151 (barring cheating / glitching), and that didn't change until the very first event distribution. But the fact that every single pokemon that existed was at least programmed into the game -- more importantly, the fact that no one told us they weren't (admittedly if they had they would've been lying, but that's beside the point) -- at least made the games feel immersive and gave an impression of indefinite replay value. Even if we knew not every mon was obtainable in one game, we also at least knew they were all there, they were all present in the virtual world. They all "existed." And that alone, as long as we suspended our disbelief and put ourselves in the shoes of the MC, was enough to keep us playing and searching, enough to keep the world of the game feeling like an actual world and not just a cage. Serendipitously enough, the old man glitch, the trainer fly glitch, and co., actually contributed to this impression; even if we could find all 151, there were always other things out there, alien things that were not meant to be. Fast forward to Sw/Sh. I can tolerate 'mons being unobtainable, but in these games, there are tons of 'mons present in the fictional canon that don't even *exist* in the virtual world presented to us, Nintendo *tells us this outright*, and we're *still* expected to suspend our disbelief and pretend like these missing species are somewhere out there just because the canon tells us so. I'm sorry, but that's too tall an order for me. This game series has lost its defining soul.

You see, i'm going from different POV - i can't care less about having all the Pokemon available and kinda felt that sooner or later they will be in need to cut down numbers for sanity reasonss... But even then, SwSh is just bad, bad, bad. New Pokemon designs sucks, graphics sucks, Galar as region is empty and devoid of the same care put into it than any previous region, story is HORRENDOUSLY awful and game is in fact much shorter than previous stuff - playing the game with my usual, leisure style i ended in League after like 18h and felt absolutely NOTHING - no sense of accomplishment, no feeling of being part of some cool adventure, no satisfaction that usually come after exploring new, cool bit of the map, nothing. SwSh is just hollow shell of what used to be my favorite franchise. It's a game that has nothing to do with things i loved in previous Pokemon game. Dexcut is just cherry on top of this shit pie...

Data entry is programming.
I say this as someone quite familiar with C, C++, Ruby, Lua, webshit, Haskell, Scheme, and Prolog.
Data entry is just declarative programming in a contrived language whose standard-defining interpreter is the program that loads and processes that data.

>>47105025 "Gotta catch em all" is nothing but Jewish marketing tricks devised by Albert Kahn and inserted into the American anime dub to maximize sales. The goal of the game is, and has always been, to become a Pokemon Master. While it is true that the definition of the term "Pokemon Master" is a bit vague, we can pretty easily deduce that it does not include catching every single Pokemon in the universe given that such a thing would be both impossible for more than a single person to achieve, and highly unethical given that many legendaries serve important purposes within their specific ecosystems with catastrophic consequences resulting from their permanent removal. Further, it doesn't even make sense within the context of the English dub given that the protagonist the theme song introduces us to (while continually insisting that his raison d'etre is to acquire one of every Pokemon) immediately shows no interest whatsoever in acquiring one of every Pokemon. He encounters hundreds of Pokemon and makes no effort whatsoever to catch them. At no point is anyone in the series like, "hey, while we're experiencing this almost certain once in a lifetime opportunity, should we maybe at least try chucking a pokeball at Mew or Mewtwo or Zapdos or Articuno or Moltres or Lugia or Arceus or fucking anything at all"? It never even crosses their mind. This is because catching all the Pokemon is not an actual goal for anyone in this fictional universe. Even in the original games completing the Pokedex was secondary to becoming the champion. If and when you finally do it, you are rewarded with a gay little certificate congratulating you on your autism. There's no fanfare, no celebration. Nothing.
Catching all the Pokemon is a fun side quest.

Although I will say that that GameFreak's excuse for reducing the number of Pokemon (better animations and models) being an obvious lie reflects very poorly on them.
The real reason these games suck is because they've basically completed the transformation of the Pokemon games from "adventure full of discovery" to "guided tour through an amusement park". The world is just barren: No dungeons, ten routes (a good chunk of which are just short little paths), no nooks and crannies to explore, and the Gyms are extremely bland. All you're really left with is a linear sequence of extremely easy battles with a bunch of flashing lights and bright colors thrown in to make it look superficially exciting.
