Was this the most unintuitive method for trying to do online play?
Why did (does? not sure if it got better) Pokemon try to make playing online so convoluted?

Game Freak has a shitton of employees outside of the core circle of higher-ups and distributes work to them in odd ways, usually trying to re-invent the wheel to disastrous results. Some poor sap's job is to create the online 'menu' but to avoid looking lazy/uncreative he now has to come up with some unnecessarily convoluted bullshit.

Especially as a follow up to the best online system in the series from Gen 6’s PSS, yes it’s the absolute worst. Even Gen 4 had better online than Gen 7.

No. The PSS was far more needlessly bloated and convoluted. Festival Plaza had the best of Join Avenue and PSS combined.

Are we still pretending it sucked just because it was new? It's objectively better than every other one, no contest. Only the Y-Comm comes close.

What the fuck is wrong with you people? It’s slow, obtrusive, unintuitive, barely works, and even has a forced slow tutorial just like everything else in that terrible game. PSS was just a convenient menu that you tap a button on and you’re connected to whatever you’d like, all wrapped into one little bottom screen package available whenever you want it. You’re either lying to /vp/ or lying to yourselves, Alolasomes.

2 people have to enter 12 digit codes then go in game and hope the 3ds recognized you as friends with relaunching the game 3 times to trade/battl Vs 2 people enter 8 digit long codes (previously 4) and wait for the game to pair them up

Just be patient and stay out of menus

Stop joining randoms
>But if you want to do raids with a specific person you still have to exchange friendcodes
Only 1 person needs to enter a friend code
