Because Ghost was already physical and they couldn't be assed to fix it in Gen 2 even though literally every Ghost and Dark type of the time would benefit except for Houndour

IT could run HP Ice if the player was specially worried about Lando. Or even just Erupt since Lando doesn't resist that.
As for Heatran, would Mixed attackers be more common in this alternate universe, because I feel that Typhlosion would start running stuff like Earthquake if that were the case.

Straight to Ubers or super centralizing in gen 3.
Gen 1 it's definitely Ubers. Gen 2 assuming it keeps Magma Storm it can trap and explode on Snorlax if it tries to switch in

I don't think it would care too much.
Its defenses and offenses are both equal, and it's not like it attacks much anyways.
Might actually benefit from most things being weaker, if anything.

Fire was so shitty in Gen 1, but considering how busted trapping moves were I could see what you mean. Even if its Steel typing was retconned out to fit in with Gen 1 (making it pure Fire type), it would still be the best Fire type just for having Magma Storm. Not sure if Ubers though considering that accuracy, no Steel typing, no Flash Fire, and Fire type's general crapiness in Gen 1.

Magma Storm wouldn't exist if we're going back in time to gen 1.
If abilities and Steel/Dark/Fairy type doesn't exist, I think it makes sense for moves from after gen 1 to not exist.
