Having something daddy could play meant it was more likely to happen. By the 90's, shit got cheaper, competition got greater, both in-market and in the retail market, meaning shit got far cheaper. The fact the Game Boy was nearly dead at the time helped, it had price reductions out the arse and any teen/adult gamer was likely on the latest home console iteration while the Game Boy was designed for little hands.
