How does that have any bearing on anything? There are late game mons who are shit so that excuse falls flat. Even Pokemon who play the exact same role in the story are completely unbalanced. And if the fighting aspect isn't important, why did Masuda make it so that his favorite mon was one of the best in the game?

It really isn't. Just because it's missing Poltegeist doesn't mean its movepool is terrible.
It can abuse Dynamax well with solid physical and special options for it.
and it's got a good support movepool. Dual screens, status effects, stat decreases, ally switch, etc. Barely any Pokemon are outspeeding it. It resists half the priority moves out there.

Even if Pursuit was around, being a speedy U-Turner lets Dragapult avoid it.

Even with Dark and Fairies being everywhere, Dragapult's tools are just good.

Pursuit activates against all switching moves. It would be ohkod if trying to use U-turn.

142 base speed. Isn't weak to most common spread moves. Doesn't have any quad weakness. Wastes dynamax turns with phantom force. Has many status moves. Has hex to abuse said supporting moves. Has a good special movepool. Has surf to trigger weakness policy for it's ally.

Dragapult has a lot of things going on.

Yes considering Dragapult was banned from Nationaldex OU which has all the cut moves(including Z-moves)
With a reliable physical Ghost STAB(Z-Phantom Force or Max Phantasm) it’s already banworthy

Pursuit would change the meta we had since day 1 of gen 8. Aegislash would also be worse and Ttar wouldn't have visited UU.

But even with pursuit in the game Dragapult is still a good bag of tricks, it would most likely run will/hex sets to cripple pursuit users. For VGC I don't think pursuit would change anything because every turn counts, players wouldn't rely on U-turn or pursuit there. Easily the best pseudo, it was made to be better than the others.
