>>47148095Always happy to help out someone who wants to try and use a Hatterene!
I've had my dear Hatt for quite a long time at this point and she easily serves as the MVP of my team and is splashable enough to where I can use her on every team without being punished for it. That being said, the best moveset for Hatt is going to depend on your playstyle. It's best as using Calm Mind and Trick Room, so stick with one of those. Dazzling Gleam and Draining Kiss are both extremely good options on it, Psyshock is a must to bypass special walls, and Mystical Fire is usually the best fourth move for coverage since it mauls steels ala
>>47140195>How do I avoid getting beaten up by it?Well it's easier if you bond with it while it's still a Hatenna since wild Hatterene are more violent than a trained one, but if you're kind and patient it will open up to you. Be calm when addressing one and try not to raise your voice. Noise Cancelling Headphones can help as well. Make an effort to try and put them at ease and make them feel safe. If you can get them relaxed, they'll become just as if not more friendly than the average Pokemon. Also be sure to give them breaks. Bede himself says that he likes to take his Hatt to wide open spaces that aren't very populated to help her destress, so I'd advise the same. According to Bede, over time they can learn to put up with strong emotions (they just find them irritating), so don't think this is all for nothing. Make an effort to try and get to know them during these breaks and, if you're persistent and diligent enough, you will eventually forge a friendship that will last a lifetime.
What the Hatterene likes to do in it's downtime though, that'll be dependent on your Hatt specifically. See if you can gauge it's interests before trying anything. Me and my Hatterene are the best of friends and I look forward to the day where I can finally take her out of Galar and into a region that isn't terrible. Best of luck to you!
