>>47129314>No wonder so many XY apologists have been popping up lately.Yeah, I'm sure it's just nostalgia and not that XY were the last games to feature the National Dex, Triple and Rotation battles, a method to reset EVs anytime, anywhere, with no cost, a method to train EVs for an entire party in 5 minutes at no cost, the ability to fish anywhere, entirely optional routes that don't just end in a dead end, destructible backgrounds that change depending on what moves you use and give you items if you use certain ones, fully-featured gyms that don't skimp out on the theme or puzzle before shoving you against the leader, a method of online that wasn't a fucking chore to use or straight up unintuitive, voice chat, a way to support friends during singleplayer and have an effect on their playthrough, an item finder that didn't require you to keep mashing a button just to find things, dungeons that are optional but still fully engaging and offer good incentive to go through them, a story that doesn't boil down to the player just walking three steps to the next map marker, Pokemon diversity that doesn't just throw Pikipek or Skwovet everywhere, characters that actually have justifiable backstories and character arcs instead of one-note personalities that unsuccessfully try to make them more memorable, a region that stands on its own without its own stupid battle gimmick that can't be used anywhere else, route design that carries itself based entirely on aesthetic and progression instead of tourist stops, a customizable bike that doesn't force you into a clown suit, decent minigames that give the player incentive to do them without just mindlessly grinding for the end reward like PokeFinder/MantineSurf/Bike Rally force you to, interesting lore that actually ties into the rest of the world instead of being a one-off occurrence that only applies to the region and will never be brought up again, or even just any sort of engaging gameplay.
Yep, definitely just nostalgia.
