I guess Infernape would edge out Emboar by a slim margin since Emboar appeals to the chubby chaser variety of barafag while furries don't generally like monkeys

Infernape and Emboar are the least popular Fire type starters and quite possibly the least pooular starters overall. They have a stigma for continuing the Firefighter meme that no one appreciated, and they're both really bad designs.

That being said, Emboar is the worst of the 2 in terms of design and viability. Infernape is just a monkey, and no one gives a shit about primate pokemon, but he is at least passable. So I'd say Infernape is the most comfortably non-cancerous Fire starter. Plus it got a kino arc in the anime versus Paul's Electivire so that helps too.

Emboar yes, Infernape hell no, it's still really popular. The least popular final stage starters overall is some mix of Emboar, Chesnaught, and Meganium (aka the only three starters to not chart in the top 30 of their regions in the POTY poll)

Meganium also is unpopular but its sort of "infamous" in just how shitty and useless is, plus it gets the gen 1-2 bonus of notoriety so even if its shown to NOT be popular is still penetrates public discussions regularly. Emboar and Chestnaught though, I definitely almost neeeeeever see being mentioned, only for like a quick minute of dismissal. >>47133410 is correct in saying Infernape has at least an invisible majority lurking about.
