What diametric opposites are likely to wind up as Pokémon games titles eventually?

I very strongly think something along the lines of Order and Chaos is inevitable.

Being Pokémon, you could name something Kettle and Teacup and somehow tie it into order/chaos -- the cover Pokémon themes don't have to necessarily be the titles themselves.

They've done "ow the edge" concepts before...XY were life/death, arguably much moreso than order/chaos. To be fair, the titles weren't Life/Death, but I think order and chaos as themes work perfectly fine.

I'm surprised East and West hasn't been done yet. Very easy to imagine ways to extrapolate that into the game themes. The cover legendaries could be an eastern dragon and a western dragon to really drive it home.

That's fair, the Gen III games weren't called Earth, Ocean and Sky....... People wanted Stars to be the Gen VII sequel but I think Earth and Stars could make its own generation. The themes being exploring new wondrous realmd VS appreciating what you already have surrounding you.

Right, but the names XY were still simple enough for a child to understand and treat as opposites. Order and chaos just doesn't fit the past pokemon naming formula of simple "opposites" or complementary pairs.

order and chaos just dont flow with the simplicity of the past names. you mentioned xy, but even then the names xy are still extremely simple and can be easily paired together. order and chaos just sounds jarring when compared to other names like red and blue, black and white, sun and moon, etc.

Pokemon Friends and Pokemon Family; a controversial release due to the way it completely breaking away from the general pokemon storyline to instead focus on an emotionally charged coming-of-age story where the main character has to make the difficult choice of sticking with their disfunctional family and working through their differences, or leaving them behind to form better relationships with people of their choosing.

Critics love it for having its mature storyline and complex, well-written characters, fans are torn between liking the improved focus on story and graphics vs hating the fact that you need to sit through a 5 hour visual novel drama before you get your starter and begin actually playing Pokemon.

That aside, what about something like Pokémon Voice and Pokémon Action? Kinda riding off the saying "Actions speak louder than words," where the player interacts with the story with more of one than the other. Didn't put too much thought into it, but I think it's plausible. Not overly complicated to understand, single word, sort of opposites due to that saying, and fairly well known across the masses. And I mean, Sun and Moon felt a little silly at the time, so anything's possible!

"Order and Chaos" is just so out of place when looking at the other games.

Apart from how random Diamond/Pearl was, Order/Chaos just doesn't flow at all when compared to other standard mainline titles, which are extremely basic terms that even four year olds can conceptualize. I guess X and Y can also be considered kind of out of place, but those are single letters that little kids are easily able to understand. Either way, I just can't see Order and Chaos ever being official titles.

I don't think looking out of place is necessarily an issue when Pokemon games have relied on gemstone/metals as their names for so many games. I mean, remember when people felt like X/Y was such a stupid name because it wasn't a gemstone? I don't think there's such a thing as a name that feels different and therefore not befitting of a Pokemon title when they strayed from the norm for a while. If anything, Order and Chaos looks like it could fit purely speaking on how the words look next to each other.

Ruby and Sapphire are Land and Sea.
Diamond and Pearl are Time and Space
Black and White are Tradition/Past and Progress/Future
X and Y are Life and Death.
Sword and Shield are an unstoppable force and an immovable object.
Even if Pokemon had the legendaries represent order and chaos, the title would be different.
