All they need to do is put work into making things easier and more straightforward for children who are easily filtered so they don't give up and end up becoming diehards. More diehards = More $$$. They're not worried about appealing to people like you, they're worried about appealing to the kids with the attention spans of goldfish. That's who they want to find success with. They sincerely believe their longtime fans will buy it anyway no matter what they put out, and the ones who refuse to on the basis of quality and actual criticism are such a small vocal minority that it doesn't matter if they're pushed out.
McDonalds didn't become a corporate giant by appealing to foodies and gourmands, they did it through intense marketing and cost-cutting measures to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
