I’m still confused as to why, out of all the Kanto gyms, they chose the figurative and literal garbage gym. Personally I would have copied Blaine or Eirika’s gym.

He was supposed to be the Dragon Gym
Leader then Dragon Trial Captain when GameFreak decided to add Trials in at the last minute and then ultimately lose any role of significance after they rushed SM out before it was finished
