It might still be from the soul era unlike gens 3-5 but it's still deeply flawed. Gen 1 is the only gen I'd even consider playing.

It made attract a much more useful move. if almost all the physical heavy hitters are pretty much guaranteed to be male then a female with attract played utter havoc

Hmm. I actually didn't even know there was no physical/special split until gen 4 until a few years ago. I'd just presumed that it was always there, and they just hadn't told us in-game what each attack uses.
