Not mine. I started with Gen 2. I genuinely don't have a favourite. Every gen has its ups and downs; I don't see a need, or point, in trying to quantify or hierarchize.

That said, there's a big difference between considering these games in retrospect and actually playing them, and at the least I would say 2-5 > 6-8. There is a tangible shift there in the way the gameplay is structured that makes the latter gens hard to play, even if, substantively, they're as good as any other to me.

I only played FireRed, Emerald and Diamond as a kid, and played the rest of the games within the last year or so.

I was annoyed by this exact thing when I was playing platinum with barry and dawn constantly interrupting me. This complaint only makes sense if you only like gen 1 and 2.

No, I started with Sapphire and I think RSE's story is awful and I think Brendan's Emerald outfit is ugly. I think Hoenn is less comfortable than Johto, less replayable than Kanto since its not as vanilla, and that RSE as a whole feels incomplete in some vague way I can't quite to put to words. Yet.

I think FRLG are nice. I hack FRLG from time to time. I've never played one but I think the Colosseum games are cool and I respect them. On the whole though, I prefer Generations 4 and 2 to 3.

Yeah. I started late with Heart Gold at 12 even though I was already watching the anime for years.
I was disillusioned again by the time Gen 5 came around, and it took me til I was 15 to play everything in Gen, 3,4,5, and 6.
After everything, Heart Gold's following Pokemon, after game, and the Soul in its routes, and Sinnoh's creatively limited Gym leaders and challenging Champion still takes the cake.

Classic/Pokemaina era: 1-2
Golden era: 3-5
Decline era: 6-8
If Legends turns out to be good, Gen 9 would be the redemption era.

I fully expect Nintendo are gearing up to reveal the Pro and fully expect it to be out by the time Legends launches. I'm in two minds whether they launch Pro+BotW2 for Christmas and drip-feed games each month after launch like with Switch's initial release or if they'll release it on Switch's 5th year anniversary with a bunch of launch titles on top and the ability to play older games in boosted performance. But either way, the fact it's Game Freak launching a game outside their trad release window for the first time since maybe DP, when they launched when it was physically able to due to having to delay it a year (september) indicates Nintedno want a console pushed at that time of the year, for some reason.
