>>47143324As for why I disliked gen 5 there were a few reasons.
I didn't like any of the starters. All of them tried being mixed attackers and failed. Samurott looked the most decent but stat wise was unimpressive. And after using it in black, I was left with nothing for black 2, chose Tepig but ended up leaving that behind for a much cooler Riolu.
The lack of older pokemon in black. I love the pokemon I've come to know, and given there are tons, I like getting the opportunity to use some obscure ones in a new game. It sucked having that option stolen from me.
The New pokemon, I personally many of the gen 5 pokemon were hideous or stupid looking. There were some late game gems, but over all, there were only maybe ten out of 150 odd that I was able to stand looking at. So many strange ones. I think it may have had something to do with the way the sprites were animated in that game.
The lack of a battle frontier. Generation 3 & 4 provided us with some cool battle facilities, I spent weeks trying them out, never getting the master streaks, but having a great time trying. Then what did they give us? A freaking battle subway, which wad just a basic battle tower. How fun. The battle place in black 2 with all the old leaders was cool, but that's just one cool thing out of many bad ones.
The story didn't seem compelling or interesting. Yeah it was cool how the gym leaders were around more, and double battles were more common. But the story about Knights and Kings and junk just seemed so pompous and silly to me.
The lack of an efficient way of getting good IVs, moves, hidden abilities. A.K.A. Bad breeding mechanics. I remember reading information about the games before they game out, and finding out that Blaziken would get speed boost. I was very excited to get my hands on one but learnt even if I did, it wouldn't be competitively viable as the event Torchic was male and could not be bred to pass down its hidden ability.
