>>47147095>Survived DexitBasically everything popular did with the sole exception of Greninja because they didn't want him to overshadow CHARIZAAAAARD and the Galar Starter Crew
>Given the fairy typeThat's not GF favoring it; in Gen 6 Fairy was basically just a girly type. It got an identity in Gen 7 when they started making much creepier and more malicious fairies such as Mimikyu and Shiinotic, but back in Gen 6 basically every single fairy type was overtly cutesy and girly (cupcakes, perfume, sparkles, etc).
>It got a Mega and got to be Diantha's AceOnly got a Mega from popularity and the Ace role because it was used as advertisement for the fairy type. The Mega also went even harder into the chickification of the species by turning it into an overtly girly mess with a fucking bridal gown.
Plus, Diantha is an infamously pathetic joke of a Champion and is widely agreed to be the worst one in the series. Her ace is a pushover, because the ace is Gardevoir. The Mega is mediocre with poor stats for a Mega (they buffed it's attack but not defense, it's speed tier is shit since it can't use scarf and it has to run timid or auto-lose to a fuckton of opponents) and gave it an ability it hardly benefits from and was clearly just slapped on because they wanted to push it as being girlier ("Pixilate" is just "Fairy Skin" in moon runes). Mega Gardevoir couldn't even benefit from the ability prior to ORAS without you transferring one from a prior gen.
The first two points were back in Gardevoir's prime, but it fell hard in Gen 4 when they instantly dropped the protector schtick and gave it to Gallade (this is why it's next appearance in MD is just on the cute team of cute mons meant to be girly and cute). Gallade got a lot of focus, replaced Gardevoir as Wally's ace in ORAS, and contrary to it's predecessor (which is so bad that it's summery is literally Typhlosion levels of snark) it's actually fairing quite well.
I hate this reality.
