Is it a fun experience for casual Pokémon fans? Due to characters like Terry Davis the game looks really entertaining but I'm not a big fan of constantly shaking up my team and EV training.

If you're not a competitive player you will get your ass beat in this game. There are several "boss" trainers who are really hard to beat even with competitive teams. Would not recommend.

all i had to do was overlevel for the latter and battle better for the former

it wasn't until the second region I did perfect IV breeding and EV training, which is actually nearly essential for the postgame stuff
