The true final redpill is that each way to play Kanto is the worst in it's own way with maybe one redeeming quality
>Original RBY is archaic, glitchy as fuck, and has no postgame aside from Mewtwo. Glitches can be fun though, and at the end of the day it's worth a play just to see where the series began
>FRLG has terrible music, can't get gen 2 evos until postgame. Sevii Islands are cool and Trainer Tower exists
>LGPE has godawful catch mechanics, only KANTOOOmons + Meltan and Melmetal, and it's a 1:1 remake aside from GO park. Only good if you want a Melmetal for GO (Since it's a top-tier meta mon in GO), or if you want easy shinies with minimal effort

What are you, stupid? The catching mechanics are the saving grace of LGPE. They're shit games for various reasons you mentioned already, but LGPE made the actual act of capturing Pokémon fun and rewarding in itself instead of a means to an end that you stop using once you have a full team of 6 anyway.

This, this, this, so much this. It just doesn't have the charm and it plays worse and it has worse leveling and gyms compared to RBY. LGPE is amazing in comparison. Just so many great features in it that there's no reason to pass it up for "muh abilities" which aren't even that good.

Nope. I'm a boomerchad who grew up with RBY when it was cool and relevant so I could tell when FRLG came out it felt off. LGPE didn't have that feeling, it was fun all the way through.

It wasn't self-apparent? Kanto Pokemon in general were meant to be designed around speed being tied to crit rate, and stuff like super effective moves blasting through opponents. Without it, most of the Pokemon are useless and the ones that aren't useless didn't become so until gen 6.
