This is an entirely pointless scene and it makes Rayquaza look weak because getting impaled on Rayquaza's tail and then Hyper Beamed should have killed her

I get the feeling the writer just didn't like Zinnia and just showed her in a wheelchair later so they could say "see, she's fine"

It thought she was Aster after Zinnia used one of Aster's old Pokemon to lure it away from Ruby and Sapphire, who at this point had already earned Fug's trust.

I'm willing to bet she WAS supposed to die but was just revealed as "lol fine" to avoid pissing off TPCI.

Plus, it's entirely possible Fug was holding back (Rayquaza's extremely intelligent and capable of managing it's strength). And now she has to live with the knowledge that the god she devoted her entire life to and that she sacrified everything for literally hates her fucking guts.

Well...in this case, the subsects don´t still deads in their respective timeline since Celebi just brought them back to life from the same timeline. Steven, Norman, Winona and Marge died just to create a fake impact in the story because at the end of the day they were alive.
