What's his canon starter pick? As far as I know there's no merch or official art of him with any of the starters, unlike any other rival

Obviously it's whichever one he picks when the player picks Cinderace, since Charizard and Cinderace are the only pokemon that gamefreak acknowledges as canon.

Grookey, obviously. Cinderace is the Gen 8 poster child. The MC had G-Max Cinderace in that music video, Goh’s starter is Cinderace in the anime, and Soudo’s starter is Cinderace in the manga.

Sobble starting unconfident and growing into Inteleon fits Hop best IMO. I'm a little biased since I picked Grookey but part of the reason I chose Grookey is that it made the most story sense.

He literally starts with wooloo but Inteleon fits him the best since hop's strength as a trainer is said to be from watching others and like Inteleon he only becomes a his own person towards the end.
