Phantump's entry never says that, it states it as a fact.

Pokemon isn't the type of series that uses unreliable narrators. If a character or Pokedex entry tells you something, that's Game Freak themselves telling you that this is how it is. It's a fact.

There are no rumors or false information in this series. What you see/read is what you get.

Then why does Oak send ten year old kids off to report information with the Pokedex? The original probably wasn't even a PDA, it was a sheet of paper that the kids wrote shit on. and then it got changed to an electronic device in the anime (yet another thing the anime ruined).

The Pokedex can't move on its own. And yes, it's stated even in the original games that it's a high-tech electronic device that automatically records data. All the protagonist does is find/catch the Pokemon, the Pokedex records the data and writes the entries on its own.

No it doesn't. If Pokemon didn't understand humans, they wouldn't be able to follow commands in battle, or do any of the super complex and specific shit they're asked to do outside of battle. Pokemon are consistently to shown to perfectly understand human speech. Even a newly hatched Pokemon understands everything a human says.

Not once has any depiction of Pokemon training ever shown them learning commands. They already understand everything humans tell them, training them is more akin to a coach training an athlete.

They already know the basics, you're just helping them get better. Pokemon training isn't training an animal, it's coaching/mentoring a martial artist.

You can't blame people for finding fault in the logical inconsistencies of Pokemon. On the flip side, it's probably not a great idea to discredit the entirety of the Pokedex; some entries are clearly hyperbolic or based on urban legends and rumors. Some don't even begin to explore the full breadth of a Pokemon's design. And some are dead on accurate. People should get a clue.

Magcargo literally can't be that hot without everything around it bursting into flames. I know that fiction is fiction, but Magcargo is either hyperbolic or an error that has never been patched out. It's body is most certainly not that hot.

It's got be this. At its hottest, lava is around 2100 degrees F, and at its coolest, about 1400. I have to imagine an extra 0 got added somewhere and just never got corrected, because 1800 F sits comfortably in the middle of that range.

That information comes from one episode of the anime and is never mentioned in the games. Furthermore, even if Ponyta is capable of controlling its heat, that doesn't necessarily mean that all Fire-types can.

It's mentioned in Shield.

The reason why some people find it hard to accept is the fact that we're supposed to believe there are a species of aggressive violent beings that have the power to effortlessly level a mountain somehow manage to coexist with everything else on the planet. This something that have done since Gen I and have done for new Pokémon like Inteleon, Corviknight and Orbeetle. And even in the brand new entries for the photodex in Snap. What is the point in singling out Lapras, Ninetales and Stoutland as smart? There’s again a strong implication since the start that Pokémon aren’t intelligent nor can understand humans. There’s no other reason to keep implying that via the backbone of each Pokémon lore.
