>>47202662My late grandfather is responsible for a lot of my TCG collection, as well as my game acquisition over the years. My whole family had a hand in it but he specifically did a lot himself. Well-off old man money and such. Hard to have anything to do with Pokemon and not think of him. He passed 2 years ago. It's hard to not be a little teary eyed when engrossing myself in gen 1-2 because that was the height of everything and I was young.
As much as I shit on them, gen 6 holds a special place in my heart because my younger brother and I made it a point to go buy them day 1 and we did a lot of battling and breeding together that gen. It was our first gen to experience together as adults so it just kind of hit differently (close enough anyway, he was 15 or 16 and I was 20). I unfortunately sold my Y but I'm gonna rebuy it sometime soon for collection's sake if anything.
Due to the Pokemon boom within the last year, my family is all in on it again after I shared my excitement, specifically my grandmother. She's been buying me $1 packs from dollar stores to open every time I come in to visit her. It is extremely fucking cute but also sad because I know it's one of few things that reminds her of how things used to be when I was younger, before grandpa passed, etc. So I'm sure I'm going to look back on these days in 10 years and cry like a bitch.
I love Pokemon guys
