>>47204981There's nothing wrong with having elements FROM Kanto in a game.
Kanto pandering is when the game goes out of its way to explicitly mention Kanto without any substantial benefit or reasoning to the player.
>Visiting Kanto, having a bridge be named after a Kanto Pokemon, or getting a Kanto starter as a 2nd starter during the storyThese are GOOD and good examples of references
>Going out of your way to have an entire region's identity revolve around Kanto by mentioning Kanto as the inspiration for the league (even though there Unova would be a more likely inspiration), creating new forms for only Kanto Pokemon to illustrate how awesome the KANTOOONIAN forms are too, or mentioning Kanto in random dialogue even though there are other regions (like Kalos, for instance) that would be better suited to those kinds of references. This is bad, and it needs to stop. I won't deny there was some degree of pandering in the past, like Sinnoh's dex and being limited to 151 or having the PokeFlute make a random reappearance for no reason, but at the same time it was never kicked up to 11 until Alola.
