>>47204157At least with Gen 3, Game Freak had to develop on a significantly weaker piece of hardware and used sprite animation for everything. You also had RS release two years after Crystal, and Emerald being just a modified RS. Emerald was also released in September and has 7.5 more months after FRLG came out on weaker hardware.
This is the Game Freak plan now vs. back then:
Autumn, Year 1: New generation
Autumn, Year 2: DLC
Autumn, Year 3: Remakes
Early Year Winter, Year 4: Entirely new game
Autumn, Year 4: New generation
Back then
Autumn, Year 1: New generation
Early Year Winter, Year 3: Remakes
Autumn, Year 3: Enhanced version of new game
Autumn, Year 5: New generation
Or the Gen 4 model
Autumn, Year 1: New generation
Autumn, Year 3: Enhanced version
Autumn, Year 4; Remake
Autumn, Year 5: New generation
Even Gen V and Gen VI had a more lenient formula.
Autumn, Year 1: New generation
Summer, Year 3: Sequels of games which are enhanced versions
Autumn, Year 4: New generation
Gen VI
Autumn, Year 1: New generation
Autumn, Year 2: Remakes
Autumn, Year 4: New generation
Now we have new generation, DLC of that generation, an entirely new game which unlike an enhanced version has to be built from the bottom up, and a new generation, not counting the outsourced chibi remakes, all on more ambitious hardware with Gen 8 being released a year after LGPE which also had to be built from the ground up. Game Freak is taking on more ambitious projects with higher development requirements on more advanced hardware in less time. You do not see anything alarming with that?
