Isn't BDSP a remaster?
The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was a remaster of THREE separate older games and included new content (new stages) and only charged $40.
They haven't even shown anything new for BDSP yet are charging full price for each BD and SP separately. Don't you think something like this should be boycotted?

1. "Remaster" implies that this recreation will be better than the originals, while we all know that'll never be true. the games are "Remakes," because all they've done is made it again, just worse this time.

We can't even if we want to. There are bigger Pokemon communities out there, and it is impossible to unite them all, since most of them are young children / rebellious teens.
/vp/ only has 7000-8000 people on average. We lack the manpower to make an impact.

A remaster is when you upgrade the assets of the original game. A remake is when you rebuild said game in a new engine and with new assets. DP remakes look like complete shit but they are remakes, bit remasters.

The little tag thingie is the porygon. Semantics aside, people treat remakes like new games. Bidisp doesnt act like a new game. Its too wound up in "being faithful" to be realistically called a new game. Just because it technically IS new due to technical stuff doesnt mean allegorically people will treat it new.

It's marketing speak. The term "remaster" is rooted in music production and has always referred to making a new release from an already existing copy. There are so many brand new assets in the Crash remake that it's literally remade the game. Doesn't matter if they used level geometry as a skeleton. It literally doesn't matter.

Much like in music and film, a game remaster takes the existing game, code, assets, everything, and polishes it. Usually in the form of high rendering resolution and higher res textures.

As much as we don't like it, BDSP is a remake. It's not even 1:1 given we've seen one or two Platinum elements from it, so that argument goes out the window. Furthermore the Fairy typing and many other balance and QoL changes from after gen IV will likely be present as well.

Now stop conflating the two, this debate literally only happened because publishers want carte blanche to make straight up reboots and slap a "remake" tag on them so they can blame the customer when they don't get what they're expecting from a fucking remake.

I always thought Remaster means no new content while Remake means new content. With that mindset this game is technically a remake since some Pokemon are now Fairy types and there will probably be a few Pokemon from after Gen IV, or at least Sylveon.
As for boycotting, there's no point; Pokemon has become too big to fail. Remember that the games that cut more than half the Pokemon ended up becoming some of the most successful in the series.

Remasters add new content frequently. If the OG games is made fresh and new stuff added it's still a remaster. Say like with the Zelda 3DS ports built from original engine. But then shit gets muddy with stuff like Mario 64 DS which is a remake but looks like a remaster
