>>47219256I mean you can look it at it like that, but in actuality, Reshiram and Zekrom are not the embodiment of these things. Those concepts were projected onto each of the dragons by the communities around them and these associations were proliferated through word of mouth and other forms of story telling.
They're two dragons that were split from one, because that dragon was friends with two brothers. I see them as its trainer basically. Either way, it didn't want to choose between them when they started quarreling so it split itself in two. That physiological reality of their conception is the only thing about them that matters. Essentially, you could say that truth versus ideals isn't really a debate, because the conflict of Black and White 1 doesn't really exist. It was manufactured by Ghetsis for selfish ends. When you realize this, you will be forced to decide if Generation 5's core narrative is clever or shit.
Personally, I think it's shit. But as a child, I vehemently defended it from all criticism and lauded BW1 as the best in the franchise. I refused to play BW2 because people skipped BW1 and were saying BW2 was "soooo good". Pokemon Trainer Gray not being real may have also had something to do with it. Either way, that was stupid. Because I've played White 2 now. And it is good.
